Curriculum

Underpinning everything we do at Tebay Primary School is the idea of maximising learning, love and enjoyment. We aim to offer an outstanding education for all children with our inclusive curriculum striving to overcome all barriers that prevent pupils from succeeding.

We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum, which encourages children to have greater involvement in their learning. Our curriculum requires deep thinking and encourages learners to know more and remember more. Opportunities are planned into the curriculum to give the children time to retrieve previously taught knowledge. Our curriculum is carefully planned to meet the requirements of our mixed-aged classes alongside clear progression documents for each subject.

Pupils are given plenty of chances to visit places of interest as part of their learning experiences and visitors are welcomed in to share expertise, knowledge and experiences to help the children bring learning to life. All staff seek out relevant and meaningful opportunities to develop pupils’ social, moral, cultural and spiritual understanding when teaching across the curriculum.

Our curriculum is enriched by a wide variety of after-school clubs. We are committed to offering a range of opportunities in all areas of the curriculum including sport, outside learning, reading, science music and the creative arts.
